This past Valentine’s Day was not one to love for the Knights’ wrestling team. The Knight’s top-ranked wrestling team was stunned by the third-ranked Loras Duhawks in the ARC conference championship on February 14 with a loss 19-17.
This ended Wartburg’s title streak after 27 seasons. This also ended the dual streak of 220 straight victories dating back to 1994.
Despite wins for the Knights in four weight classes a major decision from Loras’ number 1 ranked 197 wrestler Guy Patron Jr. sealed the Duhawk’s Victory with help from 4 other weight classes.
Wartburg drops to 16-1 overall looking toward the Central Region Championships in Dubuque.
