TAI VERDES HEADLINES LARGE EVENT

The Large Event this year will be headlined by Tai Verdes, best known for songs “A-O-K” and “Stuck in the Middle,” according to an announcement by ETK.

Entertainment ToKnight, ETK for short, is one of many student-led organizations on campus.

The group plans on-campus events throughout the school year for students to attend, ranging from Bingo Nights to live music artists. This year marks the return of the Large Event, not seen on campus since 2018.

Large Event is a show organized by ETK that has brought big-name music artists like Andy Grammer and The All-American Rejects. It happened in May Term of 2021 with the Eli Young Band, but wasn’t the true Large Event experience, said Rachel Green, president of ETK.

“The event this year is back inside Levick Arena and should have a mosh pit, dark stage lights, and a concert feel to it,” Green said.

The Eli Young Band concert last May featured heavy COVID-19 restrictions and took place outside instead of inside Levick Arena.

The opener for Verdes will be Running Lights, a pop trio from New York City.

The planning for an event of this scope began around six months ago.

“We sent out a survey to students in February asking who they wanted to see at Large Event and Tai [Verdes] was the pick,” said Green. “We reached out to his people and he agreed to come.”

Large Event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, inside Levick Arena. Doors open at 7 p.m. with Running Lights taking the stage at 8 and Verdes beginning at 9. Tickets are $5 for Wartburg students and can be purchased online right now. Non-Wartburg students and members of the community can attend as well.

Large Event isn’t the only event put on by ETK, however. They also do events throughout the school year. On Sept. 23, there will be a food truck called the “Cookie Doughtique” from 2 to 5 p.m. on the campus lawn in front of Old Main. Green said that ETK is planning on doing Bingo Nights and Open Mic Nights as well.

“We’re planning on doing the Open Mic Nights at Sasquatch Jacks at some point this semester,” Green said.

If any students or student-led organizations have ideas for events, Green said to contact her or any member of the ETK executive team. She can be reached at rachel.green@wartburg.edu and the ETK email account is etk@wartburg.edu.

ETK is also available on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and upcoming events can be found there.
