SENATE RECAP: BY-LAWS APPROVED, MANORS TO SEE RENOVATIONS

ZACH HINEY, KNIGHT WIRE STUDENT SENATE REPORTER

The Wartburg Student Senate met for the final time of Winter Term on Thursday, April 14.

The main highlight of this meeting was the approval of the revised Senate by-laws. The by-law committee has been working all semester to update the by-laws. They were officially voted on and passed at the meeting. One of the changes includes letting 5th year students serve on Senate, to reflect the free 5th year given to students because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was also announced that the renovation project behind the Manors has officially been approved and will undergo renovation this summer. The plan is to add a cement slab with a fireplace and other features to provide another place for students to hang out on campus. Some lounge areas in residence halls will be renovated as well, though it is not yet known which residence halls will receive these renovations.

Finally, this was the final meeting for the current executive team and each member of the team took some time during their reports to reflect back on their time in senate and to thank other senators. The new executive team will officially take over on May 1st and will run May Term senate.
