WARTBURG WOMEN’S LACROSSE HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

NICHOLAS THOMPSON, TRUMPET SPORTS EDITOR

The Wartburg lacrosse season started in the middle of Feb. in a game against William Penn University. The game resulted in a loss for the Knights by a score of 12-6.

This season has not been the best start for the team but there are bright spots including goalie Alyson Hasner. Hasner recently received her second Midwest Lacrosse Conference defensive player of the week for her performance against Augustana College. She recorded 15 saves on 33 shots with 27 shots on goal.

Senior defender, Olivia Christianson, has seen the team change throughout her four years on the team.

“I have seen the team shrink then grow again,” Christianson said. “Seeing that I have noticed that it really contributes to the grit that the team has.”

The team is currently in their non-conference section of the schedule and they dropped their first five games. The first win of the season came against Clarke University March 15 in Waverly. They won with a score of 12-11 with fourth-year Bri Greiskalns scoring five goals and having two assists to boot.

Greiskalns is the all-time leader in goals with over 150 over her career. She has added over 40 assists to have around 200 career points.

The team will start their conference schedule against Lake Forest College April 2 in Waverly.
