ZACH HINEY, KNIGHT WIRE STUDENT SENATE REPORTER
Dean Dan Kittle talked to the Wartburg Student Senate Thursday about the new strategic plan for the college in educational support for students, student satisfaction (including an upgrade to My.wartburg, the student academic portal), recruitment, innovation (new programs) and campus community.
These five themes and the plan have not been adopted and may change. The plan will be submitted to the Board of Regents next month.
Kittle also said that work is being done on the women’s wrestling and Esports programs on campus, as well as looking to bring in a new member of the admissions office to work with transfer students.
Senate also discussed different things on campus that could be renovated such as redoing carpets in the Residence, Lohe and Grossman halls, putting cameras in parking lots, and renovating showers in the Manors.
The Senate then discussed what they’re looking for in a new president as the search committee continues to look for the next student body president of Wartburg College. Senators will be asking their constituents for ideas.
Lastly, the Feb. 8 elections for Senate were discussed. The primary debate is Tuesday, Feb. 1. Elections will be online through an email to the student body.
