The Renaissance Faire is a big event. The Ren Faire is a campus wide mini faire that takes place on the campus lawn by Luther Hall and Old Main on Saturday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
At this event, students, non-student, and the Cedar Valley area, clubs, organizations, and food booths have time to connect, do fun activities, and fundraise.
In the past, Ren Faire has been a sort of mini faire that might be at a county fair. In which there are columns of booths of the different clubs and organizations on the sides of the sidewalk by Luther Hall and food trucks/booths by Old Main. Besides that, there are many people mostly in groups walking around seeing what is happening, doing something fun, or buying something.
“Currently I am feeling excited and nervous for this event, and I think will continue to be so until the event has finished,” Bast, executive team member for the Ren Faire, said.
A big event to kick off the week for students is Mensa Night. Mensa Night is a fun dinner that is filled with games and prizes. Mensa Night is on Tuesday, October 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition to eating delicious food there will be trivia, door prizes, and a raffle. All students can come. Off campus students’ meals will be provided by the Alumni Office.
“I am so excited; we have been planning for a ‘normal’ homecoming all summer, and it feels so good to be so close to the event,” Dehli, executive team member for Mensa Night, said.
Another big event is Fall Fest and the Pep Rally. The Pep Rally is Thursday October 7th and starts at 7 p.m. The Pep Rally is an introduction to the Fall Fest to get students excited for the night. There will be performances and an emcee announcing activities throughout the night. The Pep Rally is on the Clinton Lawn.
“Last year was our first year doing Fall Fest, so I am really excited to get this going in a little more normal times,” Bachus said.
Fall Fest will be held on the campus lawn outside of Old Main. During Fall Fest there will be pumpkin painting, a talent show, performances by athletic teams on campus, and snack tables.
Homecoming will be a week full of different activities and events for the community. For more information check at Wartburg College Homecoming on Facebook or Instagram or email homecoming@wartburg.edu.
