KATIE HIRV, KNIGHT WIRE MANAGER
Masks are no longer required in hallways and other large spaces where social distancing is possible, the Wartburg College Campus Health Recovery Team said in its latest mask update.
This mandate went into effect the morning of Saturday, Sept. 18.
These spaces could include Knights Ballroom and Levick Area on campus, as long as they are at reduced capacity, as well as in the Vogel Library if a student is working alone and at a distance from others.
The updated mandate still includes wearing masks in classrooms and classroom settings, as well as congregate settings. Additionally, masks will be required in faculty offices if the office owner wants to require them.
“I am delighted to announce that our verified vaccination rate has now reached 70 percent and continues to grow each day as our Public Health Ambassadors and colleagues work to gather more data. Since the middle of August, we have recorded only 11 cases of COVID-19 on our campus. Of those 11, five cases were identified because of the testing done in our Athletic Department, which has administered nearly 2,000 tests on our unvaccinated student-athletes in compliance with NCAA and American Rivers Conference guidelines,” wrote President Darrel Colson in his mask mandate update.
If students have any questions or concerns regarding this update, they are encouraged to reach out to the Campus Health Recovery Team at covidresponse@wartburg.edu.
