The Wartburg Men’s Cross Country team won their third consecutive conference championship on Saturday. Senior Joe Freiburger took home his second consecutive Conference MVP with the top 8K finish of 20:59.63.
The Knights ran five of the top 10 runners at the conference championship, taking first place with a total of 27 points. Freiburger added the MVP accolade to a historic season which also saw him take home three USTFCCA Athlete of the Week awards, for which he was the first Wartburg male to ever earn the award.
Junior Dalton Martin exploded in the final minutes to a second place finish at 25:43.18. Freiburger, Martin, Christopher Collet, Morgan Shirley-Fairbairn and Ali Ali were each named all-conference finishers for their top-15 performances.
