ANNIKA WALL, TRUMPET CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Wartburg College will partner with local organizations and colleges in the Cedar Valley Community Book Read of “How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi. The discussion is open to Wartburg students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents and friends of the college.
“Ibram X. Kendi’s concept of antiracism reenergizes and reshapes the conversation about racial justice in America — but even more fundamentally, points us toward liberating new ways of thinking about ourselves and each other,” according to Kendi’s personal website. “Instead of working with the policies and system we have in place, Kendi asks us to think about what an antiracist society might look like, and how we can play an active role in building it.”
Discussions will begin Oct. 1. This is with the University of Northern Iowa, Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo Community Schools, YWCA and EMBRACE, among others.
