VIDEO: THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES TAKE ON GENDER VIOLENCE

NATHAN STEPHANY, KVN DIRECTOR

Wartburg College will have a performance of the Vagina Monologues again this year.

The show is a set of monologues developed by Eve Ensler. The Vagina Monologues are put on all over the world during the month of February. They serve as events to raise money for charities that work to combat gender violence, specifically violence against women. Each monologue performed is of a women’s real experience.

Wartburg will be adding two additional monologues for this year’s performance. They are of Wartburg student experiences. The cast hope that audiences will leave the performance more informed and connected.

“We want to reach people,” said co-director Emily Camargo. “We want people to, of course, like learn new things and that these are very real issues and that they are very prevalent. But we also want people to feel seen, we want people to feel heard and know that they are not alone in those experiences.”

Performances of The Vagina Monologues will take place on February 14th and 15th at 7:30 p.m. in the Lyceum. Tickets are $5 for the general public, $3 for students with Wartburg IDs, or 2 students with IDs for $5. A silent auction will also be held. All proceeds will be donated to Cedar Valley Friends of the Family.
