
WARTBURG SPORTS INFORMATION
The Wartburg Women’s Track and Field team took third out of 16 teams at the Saint Ambrose University Invitational Saturday, Jan. 25, tallying 87 points. Breya Christopher ’23 contributed 18 points for the Knights.
Christopher won the high jump for a second consecutive weekend with a first-place jump of 5 ½ feet. In addition, she recorded a second-place triple jump of 36-7 ½ feet, which ranked inside Wartburg’s Indoor Top 10 list.
Cherisse Ward ’22 also scored points in the triple jump with a seventh-place mark of 35’ 1.25,” along with a fourth-place long jump of 17’ 6.” Haley Beckert ’21 also tallied four points in the high jump at 4’ 11”, good for fifth-place. Another pair of Knights, Erica Rittgers ’20 and Alanna Muhammad ’22 recorded runner-up times.
Rittgers took second with a mile time of 5:19.50. Muhammad took second in the 60-meter dash at 7.82, along with a thirdplace time in the 200-meter dash at 26.25. In the 400-meter run, a trio of Knights recorded points.

Carson McSorley ’22, Taylan Olson ’22 and Jaderial Staebler ’21 took fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively. In the 600-meter run, Bri Dellamuth ’20, Marissa Nolan ’20 and Abby DeBaille ’20 placed sixth through eighth to register nine points. Wartburg also found success in the 60-meter hurdles and adding 16 points with four Knights inside the top eight.
Maggi Bjustrom ’20 led the way with a runner-up time of 9.24. The Wartburg Men’s Track and Field team totaled 39 points to place eighth of 16 teams during the invitational. Six Knights recorded points for Wartburg in individual events.
Sprinter Denison Harrington ’20 scored points for the orange and black in a pair of events. Harrington took sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.12 and eighth in the 200-meter dash at 23.16. In the 1,000-meter run, Wyatt Schmidt ’22 took second with a time of 2:36.79, while Dallas Wright ’21 cracked the Wartburg Indoor Top 10 list in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.41.
Grant Olson ’23 and Ryan Bonthius ’22 also scored points in the 1,000 with times of 2:41.92 and 2:42.14, respectively. In the 600-meter run, Nick Kennicker ’20 notched four points with a fifth-place time of 1:25.74. Devante Pearson ’20 contributed six points in the high jump with a mark of 6-1.25.
The Knights will return to action next weekend, hosting the Wartburg Indoor Select Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
