
WARTBURG SPORTS INFORMATION
The No. 8 Wartburg Women’s Basketball team had two American Rivers Conference road victories over the Buena Vista Beavers and the Central Dutch. In the conference-opening game, Wartburg beat Central 103-69. Emma Gerdes ’20 led the Knights with 19 points and contributed six rebounds and nine assists.
Payton Draper ’21 scored 15 points for Wartburg and had one assist and one steal each. Alecia Kimball ’20 also contributed 15 points. Ten other Knights scored and 51 points were scored by non-starters. The Knights were 34-of-66 in field goal shooting and 23 of 25 from the free throw line.
Wartburg also earned 24 total rebounds, nine steals and five blocks. This was the first game the Knights scored 100 points
against the Dutch. Previously, the team’s highest scoring game was during the 2016-17 season when the Knights took a 92-58 victory.
Against the Buena Vista Beavers, Wartburg had an 82-42 victory. Kaitlyn Volesky ’21 led the Knights with 13 points and had three rebounds and two assists. Macy Harris ’23 scored 11 points for Wartburg and tallied one rebound and one assist. Bailey Naig ’21 notched seven rebounds and three blocks. Wartburg was 34-of-63 in field goal shooting and 6-of-10 from the free throw line.
The Knights tallied a total of 42 rebounds and 18 steals. Wartburg prevented Buena Vista from scoring double-digits in the first and third quarters. The Knights will host the University of Wisconsin Stout in the team’s first home game of the season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in Levick Arena.
