Wartburg College faculty voted on Thursday, Nov. 21, to discontinue majors in French and francophone studies, peace and justice studies and philosophy.
The changes will take place in the 2020 Fall Term.
No faculty positions will be eliminated due to the decision. Students who are currently majoring in peace and justice studies and philosophy may complete the program.
Minors in the two programs will still be available. French and francophone studies were suspended as a major and minor in 2016, so no students will be affected. Courses in all three areas will continue to be taught.
The changes were recommended by the departments and supported by the Educational Policies Committee.
