
WARTBURG SPORTS INFORMATION
The No. 19 Wartburg football team defeated Loras College 48-7 Saturday afternoon in the 2019 regular season finale to clinch its third consecutive conference title. The 2019 season marked the second time the program has earned back-to-back-to-back conference championships.
The Knights finished the season with a 9-1 overall record and 7-1 conference mark and share the title with Central College. The Dutch earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs after beating Wartburg head-to-head. Wartburg had a 27-point lead in the first quarter with two scores each from JoJo McNair ’21 and Noah Dodd ’20.
Dodd connected with McNair for a 31-yard touchdown pass during the first drive of the game. Dodd tallied two rushing touchdowns later in the first, followed by a 65-yard pick-six from McNair. Early in the second quarter, Kolin Schulte ’20 tied the school record in single-season touchdown receptions and granted Wartburg a 34-0 halftime lead.

The third quarter rounded out the Knights’ scoring onslaught. Mason Carter ’20 notched an 82yard run followed a Schulte 51yard touchdown reception. Loras recorded the sole score of the game late in the fourth quarter. Schulte’s second touchdown broke a school record that was previously set by Ryan Rausch ’01 and former teammate Riley Brockway ’18.
The record now stands at 16 single-season touchdown receptions. The Wartburg defense forced two fumbles and two interceptions.
