HALLOWEEN ATTRACTIONS: THRILLING LOCAL FUN

ALEXA GANZEVELD, KNIGHTLIFE EDITOR

October is a month filled with many Halloween and Fall festivities.

While Waverly has no haunted houses, there are some attractions within the area for students to visit during the spooky season. The closest attraction in proximity to Wartburg is the Heart of Darkness Haunted Complex, located in Waterloo. The Heart of Darkness is Iowa’s largest haunted attraction and features 13 separately themed areas.

The newest part of the complex, which was added this year, is a 3-D Killer Circus, which uses chroma depth glasses to enhance the experience.

The complex is open from 7-10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The Heart of Darkness is open until Nov. 1. Panic Park Haunted House is a Halloween attraction in Cedar Falls.

Panic Park is operated by live actors which differs the experience.

The park also has zombie laser tag.

Panic Park is open October 17 to 19, October 24 to 26 and again on October 31. On Thursdays, the park is open from 7 to 10 p.m. and 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Scream Acres in Atkins features four attractions in one location.

The park includes a 10- acre haunted corn field, zombie house, slaughterhouse and a brand-new three-dimensional carnival attraction. Scream Acres is open every Friday and Saturday during the month of October.
